The Giver in 5 Words
Apprehensive: Jonas is scared of being Twelve, because after that he has his whole life is planned out. But he is anxious to find out what h is going to be. He has been waiting for his Ceremony to be a Twelve.
Nurturing: When the kids are One they are put to families. The families take care of them and teach them the ways of the community. The Elders or parents take care of them. When they are Twelve they get the assignment on what they are going to do for the rest of there lives. Then there is a reoccurring cycle.
Limitations: The lifestyle is chosen for you in the community. You don't really have any freedom, depending on how you look at freedom. If freedom means you can do whatever you want at anytime, then that is different then just being free with what you make of it.
Order: As a child the kids are designated numbers, instead of age. It is a representation on who they are. At Nine the kids get there own bikes. There is a set way on how your life is planned by what kids enjoy, when volunteering.
Sameness: In a way everything is the same in the community. People perceive the same, but in reality everything is different.
